Authentic Kannada Taste 2011-11-13
I have been here twice and suggested many of my friends to visit this place. I have been quite a foodie. I like cuisines that develop from time tested cultures. Since my childhood, I have been witnessing the military hotels everywhere I traveled in Karnataka. Gowdru Hotel gives that authentic taste. I personally recommend the ragi balls and mutton curry / chops. -

I've been here a couple of times since I stay pretty close by , and the consistency of the food is truly commendable. The restaurant is quite clean compared to most other 'Military ' joints and the service is impeccable. I've tasted almost everything on the menu except for the 'Head Mutton and the Boti ' which is an acquired taste, but everything else is simply delicious and spicy . The ragi balls , the mutton liver , natti chicken masala ,ghee rice and the Khemma curry is just to die for. Not a good place. Food is average and so too the place. Forget the earlier reviews. We saw the earlier reviews and visited the place. Not that good...Ignore the place. -

Truly authentic Kannada food!! 2011-01-09
I have never had a more authentic kannada food anywhere else in Bangalore.. And i wud like to thank the person who wrote the previous review coz, it's reading his/her review tht we went to try this place.. Thanks a lot.. it was really marvellous experience.. there's only one other place which can equal this, but thts in Mysore, thts a military hotel which Rajkumar sir used to frequent it seems.. anyhow im sure to frequent this place.. is just like home-made food.. Im not even a kannadiga, and neither was i a kannadiga cuisine, but this place has changed my mind.. i loved the food!! u get the feel... read more -

Gowdru's hidden treasure! 2009-10-24
Treasures are usually hidden. Gowdru Military Hotel is no exception. It is tucked away in a narrow lane that branches out from Indiranagar Double Road. I was wary of getting inside for a meal when I first saw it. Then I put aside my prejudices and stepped in. And everything changed. This place is an explosion of aromas and tastes. It is one hundred percent non-vegetarian hotel. Except for a thin slice of cucumber you will find no trace of vegetables.
