  • Best Party Place 2011-12-21

Past few weeks since I am in Mumbai I’ve been searching out for the gastronomic and alcoholic capital of this city and luckily, I found one, C’est La Vie that is. I truly fell in love with the ambience of this place and the best part is that it is located in the heart of the city, Bandra. I seriously never felt like coming out of this place, it’s so awesome. Every person who resides in Mumbai must visit this place at least once in their lifetime!

  • TackyService&TERRIBLE food!BurrpAward undeserved! 2011-10-16

Read the rave reviews and headed to this place with a lot of hope.. So sorely disappointed and disgusted.
    1. The waiter, though polite, was ill informed and unable to answer any of our questions. He finally got another waiter to come and help us, though this second guy messed up our order.
    2. Order the coconut shrimp soup. Light, and flavourful.
    3. For the main course, I order the prawn provencal and my husband ordered the roasted chicken.
The provencal was bland and had an overpowering taste of oregano. The prawns came with the shells on, which was okay for me, but the heads

  • Perfect for a quiet lunch or dinner 2011-08-07

If you can bear to navigate the disaster-site-resembling outer ring road and the deathly trucks that patrol it, the Seven Hotel is a pleasant prize at the end of it! This French cafe is just the right place for a quiet dinner or lunch (unless there's a corporate event happening and you might end up with 20-odd striped-shirts-eating-biryani next to you). Well-kept place, with interesting touches to the interiors; decent wines; good food and desserts; unobstrusive (if not too informed) service.

  • Superb continental food 2011-06-11

This place is opposite to my office, but I never really gave serious thought to it - maybe because I haven't really heard anyone mention about it or maybe because they don't seem to be bothered much about branding or visibility. Anyways, looked up the place on Burrp to go for dinner with my wife and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had a five star rating! So decided to check out the place - but still din't get my hopes up too much since the reviews were a bit old.

    Ambience:
Has quite a smart and contemporary feel to it. The large photos featuring the Eiffel Tower are quite nice.

  • Excellent French Food 2010-08-23

I heard of this place from a friend and decided to give this C'est la vie a try. It was an excellent meal. We ordered Salad Nicoise, Chicken Broth, Steak and Beef Provencal. The salad was nice (though it was a tad skimpy on the tuna), Broth was how a good one should be. Beef provencal was good and the Steak was out of the world. Tender, juicy and melting in your mouth. The service was excellent to start with. But, towards the end of the meal we were left alone for a bit longer than what I would have been comfortable with. The place was not even full. A tad on the expensive side - we ended up with... read more

  • Nearly France... 2010-07-17

French owners of the hotel oversee this restaurant, which serves a lot of very standard French dishes.

I have been 10 times, with my family, with my team from work, and alone with my wife. My colleagues from work usually turn up their nose at anything non-Indian, but they loved this place. I was frankly surprised.

The food is quite authentic. They have a good duck dish my kids like (haché parmentier) and I like the roasted chicken (poulet roti) and the steak.

The specials of the day are the way to go though. Just like in France. Order what the cook puts on the

  • A quaint French cafe 2009-11-23

Its in the small details - menus written neatly on good ol' school day 'slates', blackboards detailing authentic French wines (vin) on offer, waiters helping you translate the menu with a smile - that make you think you've entered a Parisien person's kitchen, rather than a cafe attached to a hotel!

Minimalist, yet warm and personal signifies this cafe - both in decor and food. We started off with soups (The minestrone), which was well made, and a cheese platter, which had some interesting varities of cheese. It would have been nice if they had some introduction about the cheese and their

  • Good not great... 2009-09-12

Went to this place with high expectations based on the reviews in this site. I came out reasonably impressed but it didnt seem as great as the earlier reviews suggest.

    Now for the details -
entree - The place is very spartan in its decor but the prices seem very reasonable so it is alright. The french guy who is the owner is really friendly and helps you choose the food. The menu is in french with no english translation so you are very dependent on the waiters and the owner who do a reasonable job explaining.

Soups - We ordered the mushroom and chicken soup. Both soups

  • Good french food 2009-08-25

Three of us vegetarians tried out lunch at this French Bistro -

    - Cozy Ambiance
    - Decent selection for Vegetarians - excellent lasagna, pasta and crepes - Tomato tart was just too good!
    - Mouth watering deserts - Lemon cheese cake and chocolate eclairs demand special mention... just the thought of it makes me crave for it again.
    - Not to forget ..French guy who runs this place was very friendly and helpful with the selection, which added to the whole experience :-)
On the whole, very good food - in quality, taste and quantity. All the stuff is freshly baked/made
