Cringing, craving, bingeing, braving... you always have an opinion on what's hot and what's not in your city and we just love to hear it. Besides, there's no better place to satiate that itch to bitch!
This hole in the wall is very easy to miss (I stood in front of it asking where it was) unless you're with someone who's been before. And really, only someone who's been before will take you there.
Very typical Chinese Room setup complete with cockroach darting across the wall. It's dark and broody with chequered red & white tablecloths and Gook waiters in penguin attire. As in my city, this tends to draw 1960s gangsters and large briefcases. It's the sort of place where people are likely to pull out a deck and deal a round of poker. If you lose and can't cough up, parts of you will appear... read more
I usually visit this place when I want to hangout with a buddy and there are lots of talks to share. Unlike pubs, where having a conversation is like juggling frogs, this a very decent place in an abandoned building.Interiors look like an old house. Scores low on Ambiance. But with its lip smacking dishes, it compensates excellently. Serves chilled beer, not to forget at very pocket friendly pricing. Drums of heaven (chicken) being its signature dish is also the tastiest thing in it's kind i've ever eaten. A very decent place to visit with families as well. But difficult to find a table on weekends... read more
Food - I being a great fan for chinese food have enjoyed everything that is served here . The food you order is very tasty and unlike most restaurants has its own distinct flavor . My personal liking is Drums of heaven and taipai chicken for starters. Ambiance - It has not been renovated from the time it started i guess and i guess that is how it should be for an old restaurant . As you sit there and eat ,u can forget the hustle and bustle of the city and just relax in the dimly lit dining area. Service - Most of the guys who serve here are oldies n they know their menu very well... read more
Food: Great. This is THE place for indianised "chinese" food. Make sure u try out the Drums of Heaven, taipei chicken, and the assorted noodles and rice items. When you are ordering starters, do not forget to order the Hot garlic sauce as well. They serve good beer too.
Ambiance: Canton does not score too great on the ambiance front. The place is dingy, dimly lit, and often smoke filled. The place attracts quite a crowd, which may force you to wait outside on the street till they find a table for you.
Service: The waiters know their menu very well, which is a good thing, since... read more
