BHOJOHORI MANNA named after the famous Bengali song rendered by Manna Dey in the 70’s, is a family of restaurants with a difference. With the endeavour to promote the charming old world concept of a “pice hotel”, it serves a delightful variety of Bengali cuisine. The menu is handwritten every day on a whiteboard and are designed keeping in mind the season, the weather, the festivities and off course the raw material available on that given day.

    I am an out an out Bengali cuisine fan. And since it is time for me to review my favorite Bengali restaurant in Bangalore, it has to be special. During the 5 years of my stay in Bangalore, Bhojohori came very close to my heart as I had some great memories and moments with my friends and loved ones enjoying and yum yumming the food served here.

    When it comes to food, taste matters and hence I rate this place 4 out of 5 for the experience and value for money. Yes I agree that the time management can be something that can be improved upon and not all the items are always available. But what is available is exquisite authentic Bengali food. Hence I am not complaining at all.

    Superb & authentic Bengali food. Beats Ballygunj & Oh Calcutta hands down! Anybody writing differently about this place has a biased opinion or has no inkling of what good food should taste like! The prawns in a creamy gravy were heavenly and since the portion only has a single jumbo prawn we had to order 3 more for the 4 of us. The fish in mustard gravy was excellent as was the bhetki. Veg options were also polished off rather quickly. Hot puri's or luchi's as the Bongs refer to them as go well with the veg options and the prawn gravy.     Right at the start I am going to admit that this place is frightfully expensive but you'll know why when you taste the food. In my opinion, this place beats Oh Calcutta and ballygunj place hands down. The ilish and bhetki are to die for. In veg, the jhenge aaloo postho is unbeatable. For dessert, try the nolen gud misthi dohi. For the non-bengali speakers, that's sweet yogurt with liquid jaggery stuffing. A lavish meal for two will easily set you back by a thousand or more and you might have to wait outside for some time to get a table, but your taste buds will have a treat.
