This is one of my favourite F&B outlets in Kolkata. Its a part of swissotel and the food is amazing. Needless to say, the ambiance and service is par excellence. Pricing is good considering its a 5 star but the only hitch is the far location.
Away from th hustle and bustle of the city life, Cafe Swiss offers a very cool and soothing ambience. The food served is fresh and cooked to perfection. Being an international chain of hotels, you will find lot of foreigners in the outlet. The staffs are very friendly and this place has all the good things that a five star cafe should have.
I had lunch at Café Swiss in December 2011 with some friends. Being in a bit of a rush for a movie I was pleasantly surprised to see the buffet had already been spread by 12 noon. I was however expecting a much wider variety of food (a la Hyatt) - somehow I find the standard 5-star chicken butter masala less than appealing. The beef tenderloin, on the other hand, was outstanding, and perfectly rare.
The staff seemed competent albeit somewhat disinterested. Far from the warmth of the Oberoi Grand.
Note to self: go back after 6 months to see if they have become a serious contender.
Had Dinner on 2nd July 2011 at Cafe Swiss . Priced at 1300(+taxes) . The spread was awesome . The Quality is something to make a note . It was a Heaven for Meat Lovers. Buffet has everything from Chicken , Mutton , Beef , Pork to Sea food . The Dessert Section was quite neverending . Tremendous range of Chocolate pastries .
Cons : The staff hospitality was really really bad . Never seen the staff so in hospitable in a 5 Star Hotel . The Staff were really ignorant . Really Bad Staff . Wont Recommend you taking your clients on a business Lunch/Dinner . Was going to give it a 5 on 5 . But Inhospitality costs 2 stars .
