he famous chain of bakery from Boston, ‘Au Bon Pain’ finally comes to Kolkata. This was my first visit to Au Bon Pain, Park Street and I just loved the seating arrangements as it was very spacious and relaxed. The smell of muffins, donuts and bagels was infectious inside the place. The staffs had been very patient in helping us to know how to order and what to order. My friends and I were in a hurry so we are thinking of some light snack and we ordered flat bread warps – ‘Mediterranean Hummus’ accompanied ‘Frozen Dark Hot Chocolate’ and ‘Mango Smoothie’.
Frozen Dark Hot Chocolate is too good and Hummus is really yummy. I also tasted the Mango Smoothie which I found even better than the Frozen Dark Hot Chocolate. It is very very difficult to give fair food review of this place in just one visit. A couple of more visits are required to have a decent food idea of this entire place. One thing is sure that Au Bon Pain is going to put up an enjoyable competition to Flury's, without a doubt. I personally feel it’s not quite value for money but not too highly priced as well. I should definitely recommend everyone to give it a visit.
We are not from Kolkata, but while we were strolling Park Street, We happened to enter Flurry's. Slowly when taken to our seat we saw Au Bon Pain from the window. We were attracted so much to that place that we quit Flurry's and headed there. It is a self serve cafe but I must say this one was well managed. The staff guided us how to order and manage my choices. At the soup counter I was handed very hygienically the choices of the day. The menu is vast with the choices of salads, sandwiches, bakery items, juices, coffee, soup, other small meals, etc. We ended up trying so many items; my fantastic discovery was the soup section and the bread bowl. Amazing. Their breads are freshly baked and bagels are very nice. I loved the way they displayed their history in the cafe, you cannot miss it. There are many stations where you can sit and eat.
