The plot of the play is based on a folk story narrated by the residents of Chandraguthi, a prominent place of traditional importance in Karnataka. Long long ago, there lived an able Queen who ruled a small kingdom. Queen desired to crown her son as her next successor but she was confronted by a strange problem. Her son, the forthcoming King of the dynasty had developed a weird weakness of watching women in naked state. Later his weakness turned to torture wherein he would force women to remove clothes and experience enjoyment through this sight. The minister hid this matter from the queen in order to safeguard the dignity and respect maintained by the queen. The minister also would have placed an order in the kingdom saying that no women would be permitted to bath in the river. But one day a girl named Matangi disintegrates the order and goes to bath in the river, during this time the Prince enters the scene and forced her to remove clothes. She in fear runs to safeguard her self-esteem and coincidentally meets the queen. Prince's mental weakness and helplessness, queen's mental dilemma and Matangi's suffering are the key elements to look out in the play. The climax of the play is the most thrilling part which leads to the transformation of the prince's mental setup.
