Because that's what Doordarshan was for most people- their first window to the world, and unlike satellite television which burst forth with a hundred channels spoiling us for choice, Doordarshan was a slow monogamous affair beginning with clumsy awkward steps and it is only in retrospect that we realize that it was precisely its clumsiness which had us seduced. The name Doordarshan evoked the ability to see far, and now it seems like Doordarshan is no longer a matter of overcoming space but overcoming time inviting us to think of its not too long ago history with nostalgia tinted glasses. In this era of immediacy, they invite you to join them as they take a tour through a personal and collective journey through TV which did more than beam us collective messages.
