It was my turn to treat my friend and thanks to burrpers for such good reviews on P!ng. I told my friend, I?m gonna take him to the best of the Chinese restaurants and he can overload his stomach with Dimsums there!
We booked the table for 8PM and there we were bang on time. The courteous staff welcomed us and as we went in, I noticed the Dessert Bay beautifully made amidst the lawn with granite benches and tables and a shade on the top. As we went in, a very well made non-a/c hall welcomes you. Go ahead, a beautifully decked a/c hall which is subtly colored, bright walls, painting hanging on the walls is what one would notice.

We decided to dine in the A/C room and as I tried to move the chairs to sit, I realized they were really heavy. A waiter helped me to do so and that?s when I could move it. Must be a real good heavy wood is what they?ve used for the furniture. The water was immediately served, the menu card was handed over to us and the waiter seemed to know what he?s supposed to. I was asking him a few questions on the menu and he managed to explain me all of them.

We were in mood to have some soup and Bean Curd and Spinach Wanton soup is what we picked along with Green Apple Fantasy and Strawberry Margarita ? both mocktails and a Vegetarian Dimsum Platter and a Thousand Corner Prawn Dimsum. Here?s where our wait started! They take their own sweet time to serve what you ordered. The soup arrived in 15 minutes and in next 10 minutes the mocktails and a complimentary Fried Wanton with Amuse Bouche ? a lemon based sauce was served and it was a hit amongst the two of us and we both went gaga over it.
They made us eat this, we were bowled over, we were waiting for our platter to arrive but, it took them long, really long to get us our stuff. Since it was a weekday and we were tired, even if we?d gone to sleep by the time they served us, they should not have taken us by surprise. I don?t know if it was our bad luck, we went on a wrong day where there was less number of waiters, but, the wait was really long.
As our starter arrived, we got ready to dig into it. The platter of dimsums had Spicy Soya and Basil Dimsum ? High on Flavor and Spice and we loved it, Shangai Vegetable Dimsum ? good one, and I think the one with cabbage. We asked them for one with Lotus Leaf as a part of the Dimsum Platter as this was new for us and we love experimenting. Unfortunately that wasn?t available that day and we settled with the regular ones. As I said before, I guess we were unlucky or went there on a wrong day.

While we were waiting for the Prawn starter, the waiter came with the menu card so that we could order for the main course. When we reminded him of Thousand Corner Prawn Dimsum (I think he?d forgotten to place the order), he said, ?Yes, but you can place the order for the main course?
We could make out from his expression on the face being forgetful but, did decide on the main course. I remember one of my friends craving about the Pineapple rice available in Singapore. Since, I saw the same in the menu here, I blindly decided on it with Black Peppered Baby Corn and Mushroom.

It took almost 30 ? 40 minutes for them to get the Prawn Dimsum. I was looking at my friend as he finished his starter which he felt wasn?t all that great. The main course took another 20 ? 25 minutes to arrive. This was nice but not too great.
We were too full to have desserts. Hence, dint place any order. But, we got a complimentary scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and large choco chips which indeed was nice! We rounded off the meal with white chocolate coated paan and believe me it was creative and a good one!

I guess P!ng is more of a Starter / Dimsum place than the main course. This time I wasn?t all that happy with this place. But, next time, I?m gonna go all out on Dimsums alone as they claim to serve around 30 different variety of Dimsums.

A meal for the two of us was close to Rs.1300/-

The patrons mostly were young office crowd and families.
The only advice based on my experience is, if they could speed up the service time, it can make the overall experience much better!

    Dear Roopashree,

Thanks a lot for visiting Ping and we really appreciate your valued feedback.
I would like to apologize for the negative experience you had to go through with our service and the time it took us to deliver your orders.
I can assure you that the feedback has been taken seriously and we will try our best to make your second visit a memorable one.
As you rightly pointed out, Ping has more than 30 varieties of Dim sum, and that is our USP. However, we have also received positive feedbacks from many patrons on our stir fries and Rice/Noodles as well and I would recommend you to try them again.
We look forward to you visiting us again, and I am sure you will have a better experience.
