I've been here a few times for lunch and dinner with my colleagues because it's one of the few decent restaurants near my office.
The dal makhani at Mint Masala is perhaps the best I've ever had - really authentic and so delicious that I've finished an entire pot of it all by myself on more than one occasion. So if you're going to visit MM, do check it out :)
The tableware is quite spectacular (shiny brass plates) and I loved the rose-petaled finger bowls at the end. There are pretty boxes of spices hanging on the walls, and the decor is quite nice overall. There are several small subtleties like these that show attention to detail.
Despite all these positives, it's unfortunate that every visit to this restaurant has ended in disappointment. The prices are too steep to condone the boring, over-oiled curries. The paneer isn't as soft and succulent as real punjabi paneer should be. I usually find myself grudging the impressive portion size as me and my friends struggle to finish the boring food.
It's sad because some of the dishes are truly memorable for all the right reasons. The potential is there at MM: the attention-to-detail, the courteous and quick service, everything is so promising that I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised each time I visit.
But the proof of the pudding finally lies in the eating, and this is where MM falls short. The overpriced and drab food here just doesn't live up to a restaurant of this standard.
