Fake, fake, fake

To cut a long story short, this place sucks. The owners would have you believe you've walked into a New York bistro, but I'm sad to say that form far outstrips substance in this husk of an Italian restaurant.

It starts with the name. What sort of name is 'Sunny's' for an Italian restaurant? For any restaurant, for that matter? I mean, it's a great name for a highway dhaba. But the choice of name in this case is only the preliminary indicator of this establishment's utter and profound lack of quality.

Alright, the music is ok. Unfortunately, the lower level looks something like a dining hall/mess, while the upper level has extravagantly comfortable seating. This arrangement wouldn't be out of place in your local Sagar outlet, but is inexplicable in a place with pretensions as great as Sunny's.

The service is awful. What are these people being snooty about? The mediocre, amateurish food? The incongruous ambience? The garish lighting? When you're ripping every single customer off, the least you can do is be polite about it. Arjun Sajnani and his crew fawn over expats, and make a point of snubbing people of non-European descent. This wouldn't have been unusual in 1937, but when even the foreigners you froth at the mouth over are panning your restaurant, surely something's gone wrong somewhere, eh, Sajnani?

That's even before I get to the food, which is diabolical. Nowhere in the civilized world would this drivel pass for Italian food. These people get *everything* wrong. For fear of running into pages, I'm not going to analyse the specific mistakes they make. It's shockingly bad to the point of hilarity.

But you won't feel like laughing at these prices. Don't even think about the bar, which is a ripoff. If you're willing to spend on a nice Italian meal, go to Fiorano or Via Milano in Koramangala instead. Sunny's is so bad, I don't think it even merits being mentioned in the same paragraph as those two fine trattorias.

Don't even think about this place. You'll regret it.
