Mixed experience

My Way or Highway has decor that was planned, keeping in mind a desi spirit of rural India. Though the lighting, which was uneven and a little dull, came as a disappointment, the interiors gave a strong village feel - with a small artificial well, manikins dressed in desi attires etc.

The Food however was a little disappointing. Keeping in mind the competition in Sector 18, they need to up their game and focus more on the preparations to rattan more crowd.

The place and staff lend to a good experience, however wont rate the food much.

Definitely My Way !!

When one of my close friends expressed his desire for having 'Mutton Raan', I immediately began calling the restaurants in and around Noida inquiring the availability of the dish on a Sunday afternoon. Thankfully, out of the huge number of restaurants I called, My Way or The Highway responded positively saying that they had one leg portion available.

Located in the 4th floor of the CSM Mall, the huge wall sized window with comfortable cushioned sofas was the first thing we noticed. After we were seated, we noticed that the view was breathtaking - it overlooked the Sector 18 market. There was rock / hip-hop music being played in the background at bearable volumes while the TV showcasing TLC's cooking shows. When we mentioned the 'Raan' to the waiter, he smiled politely and suggested the Chef's special - Arabic Leg of Lamb served with Rice as being a good alternative to Raan-e-Khaas which was the Indian version. We initially decided to take both but as the restaurant had only 1 leg portion available we had to choose Raan-e-Khaas over the Arabic preparation.

The drinks menu here is quite exhaustive too with the top brands being available at relatively low prices. However as we had a relatively buzzed Saturday night, we decided to skip the drinks.

One thing we didn't like was that we had to ask the waiter to bring us water; offering water is a common courtesy even when guests come over so that was really shabby work on his part. I guess he really expected us to drink something as it was a Sunday. To make up for this, they gave us a complimentary Coke bottle.

Our Raan took about an hour to arrive but the wait seemed worthwhile. The aroma filled the room and the smell of freshly roasted mutton was really tantalizing. It was served with naan, pudina chutney and two varieties of onions - a vinegar-ed one and another which was a mayo-ed one. The Raan was shredded mutton marinated in rum, lemon juice and cooked in a handi as the waiter explained it to us. It typically was a whole mutton leg but their preparation made use of shredded mutton so as to ensure that the marination seeps in.

Next we ordered Bacon Chicken Wrap. This is a must try at this place for those who eat pork. From what I could decipher it was a layer of bacon sandwiched between two layers of chicken breast and then slowly cooked with tomato sauce and lemon juice to give it a sweet tangy taste.

Next on the list was Fuschilli Oregano Chicken Pasta which was a rich creamy delight. However it was a bit low on salt but nothing we couldn't correct. The Nizami Murgh Biriyani isn't the Hyderabadi preparation that one would expect. Instead it is a heavily loaded ghee preparation with spices quite similar to the Awadhi Biriyani.

Overall it is an extremely good, value for money fine dining place. The restaurant manager Mr. Ashwini also had a chat with us and made us feel special which is not a feature you see in most of the restaurants.

Cost for 4 - Rs 2200/- (without alcohol)
