French Loaf Is AaaaaaaaaWESOME

I went to French Loaf at royapetta near sathyam theatre, and it turned out to be a perfect treat for my taste buds.
Choco Flakes cake, which is egg-less is nothing but awesome.
Still I can feel the tempting taste of Black Forest Pastry.
While concern to value, there are several combos to fullfill your thirsty like chicken puffand coffee shake combo just 75rs and so on.
Ambiance is unbelivable one.spend with your girlfriend and take home sweet memories and sweet cakes
Go and enjoy.

Amazing pastries

French loaf is a lovely cafe/dessert store in Harringtons in Nungambakkam
It's a mini bakery inside the hotel which also houses Edens and H20
The staff there is courteous and very friendly
They try to come up with a lot of suggestions and see what you really like
they also take orders and give them
my favourites are the garlic breads, sandwiches and the awesome cakes
You should really experience it sometime

Strawberry tart - lovely!

After my last visit, I decided to visit again and this time try out something sweet along with the savoury. Ordered the chicken surprise is what I think it was called. It was like a conical bun with a chicken filling inside. Yummy, again. And may I add, as expected. However, the best was yet to come.

Ordered the strawbery tart and boy, was it delicious!!! Any adjective attributed to it, wouldnt do it justice! It was droolworthy, heavenly, delicious etc etc. The strawberries were delicious and the cream between the strawberries and the tart was a surprise and a pleasant surprise! The tart was perfect too!

Also, the staff at this outlet seems to have a smile all the time!

This experience of mine a 5/5 without an iota of doubt! :)

Lovely sandwiches!

After the awesome experiences on my own, this time I visited with my colleagues! And this time we decided to order the sandwiches and also get some drinks!

The staff was again courteous in taking the order and the service that followed was good!

We ordered for a chicken and mayo grilled sandwich, the chicken sausage grilled sandwich i think, the grilled veg sandwich, a veg quiche, chicken quiche and 2 strawberry milkshakes!

The sandwiches were awesome! And very filling! They served it to us with bingo salted chips which is a good idea! The milkshake was thick and yummy. The quiche was tasty too.

Yet another visit and yet another awesome experience! 5/5 again! :)

Lovely!

Visited french loaf at harrington road after a long day at work. I ordered a chicken puff and a tex mex chicken croissant. After being used to the one at ttk road, I was pleasantly surprised with the space inside! N also, that they have a menu and that they serve you drinks and sandwiches which are made fresh! The croissant was really soft and buttery, just the way i like it! infact, im drooling just writing about it! The filling inside was fresh and tasty. The chicken puff was good too!

Also, the person there, opened the door for me and if he hadnt, im pretty sure i would have banged into the glass!

i would quite easily rate this experience of mine as a 4/5.

Mr Loafer Loafer

As someone who has a food fetish for most things as long as they are slathered with mayo and stuffed in between 2 slices of bread, you must take this review with the proverbial pinch of Kala Namak. Give me a Do-it-Yourself sandwich and I will spend the rest of my life there, although I strangely find myself picking the Ciabatta, Gouda cheese and Italian Vegetables pretty much everytime I go there. They also used to serve what is arguably Chennai's best hot cholocate, but they seem to have replaced that with a light brown liquid that tastes like Boost mixed with sand from Marina beach. I have no idea why they changed the recipe. But hey, if you like sandwiches, this is the place to go.

Well ok, it's not authentically Parisian or even remotely French, but they know how to stuff edibles between 2 slices of bread.

Value for Money !

This place has Gr8 cakes, mousses, n snacks ! The pricing is not too high as well. Though sometimes they run out of stuff if you're late. They used to have a gr8 policy of Buy 1 Get 1 Free after 2100 hrs i think and we would always take advantage of this scheme though its no longer there now :-( All in all gr8 bread too along with the yum desserts.

cozy and quite afternoons

wide variety of bread-including home made specials that vary daily. The personnel are quite helpful and courteous though not necessarily highly knowledgeable on the cuisine. Sandwich factory is just outside. You have the choice of sitting inside the restaurant in the comforts of an a/c and watch IPL on the LCD or sit outside on the wooden benches (kind of a Parisian ambiance I wonder!

Menu is quite good, with enough variants in terms of the kind of bread, fillings-veg and non-veg etc. Pricing is reasonable. They also provide pastries etc (not sure of the quality though). One of the areas for improvement include the range of beverages available-limited range of cold coffee/tea available.

The afternoons/ early evenings are probably best time to visit if you wanna a quiet cozy afternoon with your friends/gal. Come evenings and the place is filled with young school and college crowd, making it rather noisy and quite a problem to find a parking slot.

Parisian my foot!-French Loaf & Maple Leaf

This sandwich shop is supposed to be modeled after a Parisian cafe and the chocolate lounge on the first floor Maple Leaf-after a Parisian chocolate shop. But sadly.....The sandwiches are OK at best and the cafe is filled with the usual line up of gelatinous desserts!

Chennai-yil Chocolate lounge-a??? For a Chocolate-paithiyam, this was a call from the holy land! My feasting companion was an ever-hungry teenager who could help me take a serious bite out of this place!

Upon entrance I expected to be greeted and enveloped by the rich, warm aroma of chocolate. But, this olfactory welcome which is characteristic of any bakery or chocolate shop boasting of making its own confectionery and pastry was strangely absent!!! As a result, the lounge appeared stark and soul-less and the white interiors rob the place of any warmth.

The simple plates of chocolates with their descriptions were easy to pick and choose from. The line up of flavors for the enrobed and molded chocolates was quite impressive ranging from the common vanilla to exotic passion fruit. So, as you can imagine we went berserk! We picked one from each flavor to be boxed and taken home and being fastidious-I made sure I wrote down the flavors beside the pertinent chocolate.

Then we decided to try out their desserts. I picked the Chocolate Walnut Fudge-which is actually a Brownie. Why? You ask. Simple. I love brownies. They are the easiest to make in the world of baking. After all, they were accidentally discovered by a careless baker in the kitchen! The lady at the counter heated up my slab of brownie in the microwave, which can be an advantage or a prelude to a flop show depending on the moisture content in your brownie. In this case sadly it was a flop show. The brownie was SO DRY that she could have just crumpled it and served it as something quixotic like “chocolate upma”!!! And the walnuts-where were they????

Two strikes, we decided to take off with our box of chocolates. At home as my family members congregated around the box of chocolates each was given the task of sampling one and trying to guess its flavor. Well, all the fruit flavors were so indistinguishable much to my disappointment. The twang of the Passion fruit and the sumptuousness of Alphonso were absent! Of course, the crunch of the nuts in certain chocolate centers gave away their flavor. The one and only flavor that managed to stand out boldly for instant recognition was the Cardamom flavored ganache enrobed in dark chocolate. The Zing of the cardamom clearly came through and was an intensely enjoyable experience on the palate.

All the praise from the local press that covered Mr. Mahadevan’s new venture-makes me wonder whether they all actually tasted, savored any of the store’s offerings or just collected their press kits with free samples. Gratitude and novelty can win over the impetuous press but chocolate-paithiyams are more difficult.

I suggest you don’t take anyone who is serious about their chocolate to Maple Leaf.
